Application procedure

Obtaining a temporary residence permit is contingent upon meeting the specific conditions and prerequisites established by the country to which you are applying. Requirements

  • A bank statement from a Hungarian or foreign financial institution.
  • A certificate from your employer or tax authority confirming regular income from abroad.
  • A notarized statement from a family member in Hungary committing to support you, along with documents proving their ability to provide support.

6. Proof of accommodation in Hungary: Your accommodation must be a registered residential property suitable for living (a minimum of six square meters per person). Proof of accommodation can be provided through:

  • A residential lease contract.
  • Documentation of courtesy accommodation.
  • Document confirming ownership of a residential property issued within the last 30 days.
  • An invitation letter with an official certificate attached.
  • Documents indicating accommodation reservation and payment.
  • A notarized statement from a family member in Hungary committing to provide accommodation.
  • A real estate sales contract and a copy of the approval from the relevant Budapest or county government agency for property acquisition.

7. Health insurance: Provide evidence that you have access to health insurance services or have the financial means to cover the cost of such services.

Timeline

Following the submission of your application, the competent authority will make a decision within a maximum of 21 days. Upon approval of your application, you have the option to collect your residence permit in person or have it delivered by mail. The entire process typically takes approximately 1-2 months to complete.
