Locals frequently voiced concerns about rising prices due to pandemic-related inflation and the recent transition to the Euro. However, coming from a moderately priced city in the US, the expenses appeared quite reasonable to us. On average, we found prices to be approximately €1-2 for gelato, €10-20 for a lunch dish at a mid-range restaurant, and perhaps €20-40 for a similar dinner. As a vegan, my meals and groceries usually come at a slightly higher cost."

For instance, full coverage for a 4-year-old Toyota RAV4 Hybrid costs 900 euros, not just third-party coverage. Basic coverage for a 10-year-old Suzuki SX4 is only 200 euros. There's a prevalent informal economy, with many engaging in side hustles. A common scenario involves working a regular job, like being a plumber at a water company from 7-3, and then finding additional clients for evening work."

Bill from NY says: "Recently returned from a 3-night work trip to Split. It was filled with continuous drinks, food, and activities like a full-day boat trip and white-water rafting. The total cost for 26 of us came to £70,000.
